G2 Esports and DAMWON Gaming will clash at Sunday noon to open the second day of LoL World Championship quarter-finals. With a lot at stake and the home favourites in the fray, it will be a fixture bound to attract masses of European and Korean esports fans.

G2 will look to make a statement this Sunday as they continue their quest to become the first European champions since Fnatic won the tournament in 2011.
Looking back at the group stage, G2 played well but had to settle for second seed after losing to Griffin in a tiebreaker.

That takes nothing away from their exceptional season to date, in which they have won both LEC splits and put on a breathtaking show at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational.
The current G2 roster has never lost a best-of-five (Bo5) series and is renowned for taking a relaxed approach to every contest.
That sometimes backfires, as seen in the LEC Summer finals where they went down 1-2 to Fnatic, but G2’s rare ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat makes them very hard to beat.

DAMWON’s quality was a huge mystery in the play-in stage and even now, as we enter the quarter-finals, we still can’t pinpoint exactly how strong they are.
The Koreans finished third in the latest LCK split, so they should be capable of much more than what they have shown so far.

DAMWON’s roster features some world-class players who match up nicely with G2, but there are two concerns they need to address ahead of the quarter-finals.
Unlike G2, who are exceptionally strong over five maps, DAMWON’s 0-3 defeats to Kingzone DragonX in the LCK Spring playoffs and to SK Telecom T1 in the LCK Summer playoffs suggest they may struggle to keep up in a Bo5 series.
The other thing we have to consider is that DAMWON will not enter the quarter-finals as relaxed as G2. And while high-pressure situations bring out the best in some teams, DAMWON are not one of those teams.

G2 to win – Best odds at GG Bet
G2 will enter the LoL Worlds quarter-finals carrying the European torch and it’s hard to imagine their fire will extinguish here.
Rasmus “Caps” Winther was just exceptional throughout the season and in the group stage, and we can’t praise the duo of Luka “Perkz” Perkovi? and Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle enough for what they have shown so far. But G2’s real strength lies is in the jungle.
The 2019 LEC summer MVP Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is one of the best junglers in the world. The fact he underperformed in the group stage and still ranks among the most effective junglers in the tournament should worry the rest of the competition.
Both teams are very organised, skilled and experienced, but when it comes to overall team strength and form, we feel like G2 come out ahead of DAMWON.
